Estrogen Replacement Therapy, ERT

Treatment with estrogen hormone to increase the amount of estrogen in the body. This treatment is given to women who have passed menopause or to women who have menopausal symptoms preceded by anti-cancer treatments or surgery to remove the ovaries. Estrogen replacement therapy may relieve symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and sleep problems. The treatment should also help protect against osteoporosis and reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
