Studies, also called “Clinical Trials” on human beings are necessary in order to collect information mainly on the safety and efficacy of an innovative treatment. Usually a clinical trial consists of three phases. The first, second, and third phases are usually different from each other in the number of people participating in each. In the third phase, the number of subjects is the largest. A clinical trial can be stopped at each phase.
