Stephen was diagnosed at the age of 28 with metastatic colorectal cancer. About 20% of newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, stage 4, of which the cancer has spread (metastasized) to other organs in the body besides the colon.
Stephen wanted and wants to live. He started learning by himself the disease and the different treatments for it. He found out about MSI, got tested to find out whether his tumor harbor MSI-H and indeed, it did. In the next step, he brought up to his treating oncologist the possibility of participating in an appropriate clinical trial.
He was enrolled to the study … and was saved!
