Friends, there are numbers that make you stop and take a deep breath before you see or read them.
Take a moment and think about metastatic pancreatic cancer – one of the most challenging diseases in oncology.
The current standard of care in the second- and third-line settings provides disease control in about 30% of cases.
Most patients do not respond to treatment.
Now pay attention to what was presented at ASCO 2026:
Two new drugs, Vopimetostat + Daraxonrasib, were given to patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
These were patients with a combination of two mutations called MTAP and a RAS mutation, in an ongoing Phase 1/2 study (not in Israel).
The following results were observed: it is important to note that this is an early study including 20 patients, 70% of whom had liver metastases.
The results:
• 92% – significant tumor shrinkage
• 100% – disease control
• 90% – progression-free at 6 months (this is not a typo) – 90%!
This number is a game changer.
It works because the combination targets two vulnerabilities at the same time: a PRMT5 inhibitor (vopimetostat) that affects MTAP-mutated cells, together with a RAS(ON) inhibitor (daraxonrasib) that blocks the growth pathway.
The synergy between them has already been demonstrated in preclinical data, and now it is proving itself in a study involving real patients.
